ARMY SCORES WITH WELLINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB
Players from Wellington Football Club in Hereford have scored a great deal with the Army after recruiters from the Hereford Army Careers Information Office turned up to present the club with brand new football shirts for the entire team.
The presentation was made at the clubs’ home stadium before their cup game against Stratford, and WO2 Gary Southall was on hand to present the shirts to club manager, Kevin Morgan in front of the team, who were all eager to try out their new kit.
WO2 Gary Southall comments: “Fitness and sport plays an integral part of Army life and we believe that youngsters participating in sports should be encouraged. By showing our support to local clubs in the area, we hope to help provide young boys and girls with more opportunities to keep fit.
“There are plenty of opportunities for those serving in the Army to participate in sports as we offer over 45 different sporting disciplines including cricket. Participating in a program such as the one the Academy offers not only presents young people with an opportunity to keep fit, but also gives them the chance to gain leadership and team working skills, both attributes that are desirable in and out of the Army.”
The presentation of the new shirts is part of the Army’s continued support of local sports teams. The Army is keen to assist young players from across the region and has a wealth of knowledge to help inform and educate them, no matter what their chosen sport.
Gary concludes: “We hope that the team from Wellington Football Club enjoy their new kit and I am sure they will do us proud as they continue to do well throughout the season.”
